Ben Schemmel, D. C. C.C.S.P

Chiropractic Physician

Dr. Ben Schemmel grew up in Minster, Ohio. He became interested in chiropractic as a high school student-athlete. He suffered a lower back injury during a football game that slowed his performance. He visited a local chiropractor and soon he was back to normal and on the field again. Following high school, he attended Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. There, Dr. Schemmel juggled his time between his studies and being a four year member of the school’s baseball team. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.

After college, he pursued his career in chiropractic and enrolled at National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois. During chiropractic school, he was a teaching instructor for students assisting them on chiropractic technique and procedures. Dr. Schemmel graduated in December 2000 from National University of Health Sciences (formerly National College of Chiropractic) with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and later joined Dr. Staker at Staker Chiropractic & Associates in 2002.

Dr. Schemmel’s enthusiasm for sports and sports related injuries led him to enroll in a post graduate course to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and currently uses that knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment for his patients.

Dr. Schemmel became introduced to Active Release Technique (ART) while training for a marathon. This treatment allowed him to fight off muscle spasms and tendonitis traditionally seen in runners. In fact, ART has helped him so much personally he became certified as a provider in ART. Dr. Schemmel took his personal experiences with ART and uses those procedures to treat athletes of all levels with various types of injuries. He is the proud provider of chiropractic services for the North Carolina Courage of the NWSL and NCFC of the USL.

Dr. Schemmel is a member of the North Carolina Chiropractic Association.
