How Effective Is Chiropractic?

Across healthcare, the goal of research is simple: to determine the best methods of treatment for particular conditions in order to achieve the best possible outcome. In other words, what treatment is effective for X, Y or Z? Well, chiropractic care is making great progress in the research world for the management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, from prevention to acute injury treatment.

One recent study showed that of two groups of patients: one who received medication, and the other who received chiropractic manipulation, there was a notable difference in how successful the two treatments were after 4 weeks of injury. As you can see, the vast majority (94%) of patients in the chiropractic group had reduced pain after treatment, while only 56% of the medication group had reduction in pain.

This is just one example, but it very well demonstrates the underlying purpose of chiropractic care for any suitable condition. That is - to correct the issue at the source and to restore proper function to the area. Chiropractic adjustments do just that! As chiropractors, we locate the cause of the pain first. Once we identify the issue, we use chiropractic adjustments, active release technique soft tissue therapy, and a host of other tools to correct the issue. We then want to educate our patients so that they not only feel better, but are able to prevent the injury from happening again. This also helps patients prevent long term adverse effects of spinal wear and tear (arthritis) by allowing them to understand how to protect their back.

We would love to help you! Have any questions about chiropractic care, sport related injuries, or want to know if we can help? Give us a call or stop by the office and we would be glad to talk with you.
