Todd Staker, D.C.

Dr. Todd Staker received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He was a starting basketball player for Miami for four years which sparked his interest in sports medicine and sports injury. After college, he had planned to attend medical school or continue his education in chemistry to become a pharmacist. However, an old basketball injury led him to chiropractic and he was able to personally experience the benefits of chiropractic health care. He attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He has post graduate studies in radiology, sports injury, and soft tissue injuries.

Dr. Staker is very committed to his profession. He is the proud provider of chiropractic services for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL), and he is credentialed to have chiropractic intern doctors rotate through his practice for further education and hands on experience. Dr. Staker is a member of the American Chiropractic Association, North Carolina Chiropractic Association, and the Christian Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Staker is the chiropractic editor for Health & Healing which can be found in most health care offices in the Triangle. He has medical doctors, massage therapists, physical therapists, personal trainers, amateur and professional athletes, and many other health care practitioners as his patients. He has also taught classes for the North Carolina Chiropractic Assistants program.

He is one of the few chiropractors in North Carolina that is certified in Active Release Technique (ART). ART is a specialized form of myofascial release (deep tissue massage) that treats muscle and tendon injuries, muscle adhesions and knots, scar tissue and spasms. Several injured professional and amateur athletes have been able to perform at pre-injury levels after receiving treatment. This treatment is especially effective for sports injuries.

Dr. Staker has treated collegiate athletes, professional hockey players, Olympic track and field athletes, and has been a treating physician for the Ironman professional tri-athletes

To help educate the public about work and home related back injuries, Dr. Staker holds regular spinal care classes in his office. The class addresses proper back hygiene, lifting, exercise, stress management, and how to live a healthier lifestyle. The classes are free and open to the public. He has been invited to speak at the state convention for occupational nurses and practitioners to discuss work related injuries. He has also lectured at several pain symposiums including University of North Carolina. For date and time of next class refer to Patient Education.
