Dr. Foglia - Staker Chiropractic
Dr. Linda Foglia graduated cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Upon graduation she received service awards in radiology, chiropractic sports and rehabilitation, diagnosis, and technique. She worked as a teacher assistant and as a student mentor helping classmates to succeed in the curriculum. She participated in the Sports Council program allowing her to adjust athletes in the community at local sporting events. Also while at Palmer, she was selected along with 11 other students to pioneer a chiropractic mission trip to Madagascar. The purpose was to introduce chiropractic care to a third world country and serve those much less fortunate.
Dr. Foglia's main areas of focus are extremities (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles, feet), sports injuries and rehabilitation, and scoliosis. She holds a post graduate certification as a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practioner (CCEP). This added knowledge helps with the diagnosis and treatment of the extremities as well as finding areas of weakness and injuries in the spine. Closely related to the treatment of extremities is the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries. In particular, Dr. Foglia enjoys working with the school age student. Dr. Foglia also enjoys the challenge of helping patients with scoliosis, a lateral curve of the spine exceeding 10 degrees. She employs the Pettibon Posture Correction protocol, which is an intense rehabilitation technique different from traditional chiropractic methods. Dr. Foglia is also certified in Active Release Technique (ART). This is a soft tissue technique used to relieve nerve entrapments and muscle related pain as well as restore muscle function. Dr. Foglia believes that treating the soft tissue in combination with chiropractic adjustments provides the greatest benefit to patients.
Dr. Foglia discovered chiropractic through her own sports injuries. After a fall off her road bike and multiple hamstring tears from playing soccer, her medical doctor referred her to Dr. Staker for a biomechanical evaluation of her spine. Dr. Staker introduced her to chiropractic as well as ART. The experience was so beneficial that she decided to leave a 20-year computer career to become a doctor of chiropractic. Today, it is a natural progression for her to be back at Staker Chiropractic Center as an associate doctor treating patients and proclaiming the great benefit of chiropractic that she first experienced here.
Dr. Foglia maintains memberships with the North Carolina Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association, Council on Extremity Adjusting, and International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
